Al Thakira mangroves are among Qatar’s oldest and largest forests. It’s a welcome surprise to find a mangrove forest like this such a short distance from industrial Al Khor.
The mangroves bay is accessible through kayaking tours. This wetland preserve has unique natural habitat birds like heron and flamingos during their season.
