You can swim in some of the beaches in Qatar but the best ones to swim in are Katara beach, Al Sultan beach in Al Khor, Four Seasons beach, Umm Bab beach, Sealine beach, Inland Sea in Khor Al Adaid, Azerbaijan beach, Al Thakira beach, Simaisma beach, Farkeh beach and Maroona beach.

If you love sightseeing, then snorkeling is exactly the right watersport for you this summer!

You can snorkel in places around Al Safliya island, Al Aaliya Island between Lusail and the Pearl and Old Palm Trees island, Purple Island, The Pearl and Banana Island.

  1. Scuba Diving

As of today, 80% of our ocean has not been explored yet! Diving into the deep, blue sea gives you the opportunity to discover many different species of animals and plants under the sea. You might just find new species that evolve during the global pandemic as many were discovered in 2020 and 2021.

The famous scuba diving spots is at the Dukhan beach, the Old Club Reef and the Barge. During the dive, you will be able to see some Balambar Wreck and the Tech El Dan wreck. You are most likely to see marine creatures like groupers, batfish, barracudas, sea bream, needlefish, nudibranchs and cuttlefish. Interestingly, Qatar has the second largest dugong population in the world – which is, unfortunately, an endangered species. So if you come across one in the east coast side of Sumaysimah, Umm Bab or the west coast of Dukhan.

  1. Banana Boating

Riding the banana boat is basically a favourite water sport for those who want to enjoy the warm waters with family, friends or other people.

This sport can be done in Katara beach and Al Safliya island.

  1. Kite Surfing

It’s an activity with a mixture of surfing, windsurfing and wakeboarding. Now it may sound like an extreme sport but even if it is your first time to do kite-surfing, there will be experts to guide you during the process. The best place and famous for this activity is the Zekreet beach in the southwest coastline of Qatar.

Prices for the activity is around QAR700 for group sessions with only two person present besides a trainer, whereas for the private lessons it exceeds to 1000 Qatar Riyal per person.

  1. Water Skiing

If you love fast and furious drive then you would love to get on the jet skis and ride with the waves in a quick motion.

Waterskiing can be done around the West-Bay beach, Katara beach and the Pearl.

  1. Parasailing

Last but not least, Parasailing is the perfect sport to enjoy the breeze and when you want to see Qatar’s beauty from a bird’s view. This activity can be done at Katara or Sealine – though we recommend Sealine because it would have a wider range of area you can see from the top!

You can find parasailing activities along the coastline of Sealine beach in Mesaieed, Al Wakrah beach, The Pearl and Katara.

So head out to the beach and make sure to try some of these nine best watersports in Qatar!
