Qatar has a lot of interesting events happening this weekend. Music, food , shopping festival, book fair and all other events happening out and about Qatar this weekend are listed below.


Aspire Lake Festival

The 3rd Aspire Lake Festival show titled “Tree of Life” is set to take spectators through half-hour topnotch performances which will showcase series of stories about Peace, Love, Family and Happiness. Magnificent fireworks are also set to light up the sky of Aspire Park during the show finale. The tickets categorized into Gold and Silver are available for 30QR and 50QR and can be bought at Aspire Park next to Burgeri, major restaurants in Katara and via online booking through Q-Tickets website.

When: Friday, January 10, 2020 | Show starts: 7pm, the gates will open for public at 5pm and will close at 6:30pm.

Doha International Book Fair

The much-awaited Doha International Book Fair is back and this year it promises to be bigger. To be held under the slogan “Do you then not ponder?”, DIBF will have around 335 publishing houses from 31 countries. The exhibition also  includes various activities and programmes which combine theatre, drawing and other 13 training workshops.

When: Thursday, January 9 to 18 | 9am – 10pm

Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2020

It’s an exciting weekend for tennis fans in Qatar as Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2020 gives them a chance to see their favourite tennis stars in action. Apart from the games, there is also the Traditional Village, a gaming and fan zone where visitors can have fun and also increase their chance of meeting players and get their autographs.This year’s activities highlights the actual science behind tennis and draws attention to design and construction, kinetic energy and power, aerodynamics, vibrations, forces, friction and others.

Tickets for the six-day event are available to the public online, and as well as at various locations across Doha.

Shop Qatar 2020

A much awaited colourful shopping celebration in the country, Shop Qatar is here. The 25-day festival will give residents and visitors a chance to explore and enjoy Qatar’s diverse retail offering including everything from luxury malls and high-end boutique venues to themed, entertainment-rich shopping centres, as well as authentic souqs and bazaars. Throughout the festival, all participating malls will host free roaming shows and family-friendly entertainment as well as a colourful lights and confetti show every weekend.

MIA Park Bazaar

A weekend market which is a modern take on Qatar’s old souq tradition will have around 50 stalls offering a wide variety of products. The bazaar at Museum of Islamic Art park will have stalls selling ready-to-wear clothes, caps, footwear, shayla, sunglasses, bags, jewellery, watches, cosmetics, fragrances, and other accessories. The stalls representing home-based businesses also sold home display items and sumptuous home-cooked cuisines to the visitors.

Kahraman Exhibition

Looking for Amber or as called locally Kahraman? Then head to Katara where over 90 exhibitors from 13 Arab and foreign countries are participating in the second edition of Katara International Exhibition for Kahraman. The event is the first exhibition dedicated to amber in Qatar and the second-largest international exhibition after the one held in Poland.

Ooredoo Doha Marathon

Ooredoo Doha Marathon which features run for various categories including 1k, 5k, 10k, half or full marathon will be held this weekend.   Though the registration for the run is over, you can visit and cheer for the runners who will assemble at 5am at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha for their race.

Qatar, India & the Gulf: History, Culture and Society Exhibition

Qatar National library to exhibit connections between India, Qatar and the Gulf over 4,600 years as a part of the Qatar India 2019 Year of the Culture. The exhibition reveals hows this ancient relationship has influenced their history, culture and society in profound and surprising ways.

Mahaseel Festival

The biggest edition of Mahaseel Festival is going on at Katara with more than 40 stalls to buy vegetables, flowers, honey, dairy and meat products offered by local companies at discounted prices. There is also a large area where children can enjoy inflatables in addition to a giant tent where they can play various computer games such as VR games making the festival a one-stop-shop for families.

Different Dimension: An Energetic Place

The exhibition showcases 11 fascinating works by contemporary abstract artist Hala El Attar and marks a number of firsts for the young artist. El Attar visually manifests energy through her unique take on fluid art integrating different mediums and styles to achieve artworks that burst with colour and life.

Star Wars Activation Booth

Discover your side at the Star Wars Activation booth with the launch of Star Wars: The Rise of Sky-walker! Doha Festival City has set up a total of eight zones with each zone having different activities. The booth is open to all ages and no purchase is required. It requires registration and is on first come first served.
