The Cabinet has made it obligatory all citizens and residents to install the Ehteraz app on smartphones when leaving the house for any reason.
The Cabinet also decided yesterday closing of the shops and stopping all commercial activities during the period from today (May 19, 2020) to May 30, 2020, except food and catering shops, pharmacies, and restaurants that provide delivery service.
After the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi stated the following:
The Cabinet listened to the explanation provided by H E the Minister of Public Health on the latest updates and developments to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, and the Council affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat this pandemic and decided the following:
First:
All citizens and residents are obligated to install the Ehteraz app on smartphones when leaving the house for any reason. This decision is effective from Friday (May 22, 2020) until further notice.
Second:
All citizens and residents, upon leaving and moving, are obligated not to have more than two people in the vehicle, and a maximum of three persons are allowed in the following cases:
Transportation in taxis and limousines and transfer in private vehicles when driven by the driver of the family.
The ambulances and vehicles of the Ministry of Public Health and the vehicles of security and military authorities are excluded from that.
The continuation of the decision to reduce the number of people transported by buses to half the capacity of the bus while implementing the precautionary measures. This decision is effective from today (Tuesday) until further notice.
Third:
The practice of sport shall be in the areas close to the residence area, taking into consideration avoiding gatherings during the exercise and taking the necessary precautions from wearing masks and maintaining the safe distance.
This decision is also effective from today until further notice.
Fourth:
The Ministry of Interior shall take the necessary measures in this regard.
Fifth:
The closing of the shops and stopping all commercial activities during the period from today (May 19) to May 30, 2020, except food and catering shops, pharmacies, and restaurants that provide delivery service, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry shall determine the other necessary activities exempted from this decision.
Sixth:
In the case of noncompliance with these decisions, the penalties stipulated in Decree-Law No. (17) of 1990 regarding the prevention of infectious diseases shall be applied to the violator by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years and a fine not exceeding QR200,000 or one of these two penalties.
