People in Qatar would be able to see Venus with the naked eye tomorrow, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has said. In a statement yesterday, QCH astronomy expert Dr Beshir Marzouk Venus could be observed over the eastern horizon in the dawn sky tomorrow for two hours and 35 minutes, from the rising time of Venus (2.16am) until sunrise (4.51am).
The statement noted that Venus would be at the farthest point in its orbit around the sun (aphelion) tomorrow, at 5.45pm Doha time. It will be some 109mn km from the sun’s centre.
Dr Marzouk explained that Venus reaches the aphelion (farthest) point in its orbit around the sun once every 225 days, with the phenomenon last occurring on November 28, 2019.
It will again be at its farthest point on February 20, 2021. On July 4, Earth was at the farthest point in its orbit around the sun.
