The Cabinet, in its regular meeting, decided to extend the preventive measures taken to combat COVID-19 by two weeks.


Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired meeting through video conferencing. Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said that at the beginning of meeting, the Cabinet was briefed by H E Minister of Public Health on the latest developments of efforts to contain coronavirus (COVID19).

The Cabinet decided to extend decisions to limit the number of employees present at the headquarters of governmental institutions and limit the number of employees present at the headquarters of private sector organizations. According to the decision, public and private-sector employees will work for six hours a day, from 7am to 1pm and all meetings, held between employees of public and private sectors present at their place of work, should be distanced meetings using modern technology. Home cleaning services provided by cleaning and hospitality companies remain suspended.

The number of employees transferred by bus should be half the capacity of the vehicle, while adhering to the necessary precautionary measures. Intensified inspection visits made by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to supermarkets and restaurants will continue to ensure they adhere to the health conditions and precautions, including safe distancing measures between shoppers.

The decision to extend preventive measures will come into effect from today and will be applicable for two weeks, during which a re-evaluation will be made to take the appropriate decision. The Cabinet approved a draft policy for water security and water strategy in the State of Qatar. It approved a draft cabinet decision to amend exemptions to some documents stated in the Electronic Transactions and Commerce Law issued in decree law no. 16 of 2010. The draft decision comes in the framework of enhancing electronic services and activating the E-cheque service.
